Saw a post on Midori's FFXIV blog about the Free Company. I would be very interested in joining and playing with you all.

A bit about me… My name is Daniel. I'm a bit older with kids and all. Started MMOs with EQ, but really got into gaming on the Apple IIe with the Ultima/Bard's Tale series. That's one thing that attracted me to this FC right off, the "older/EQ1" thing.

I'm not completely new to Final Fantasy, but I didn't play FFXI all that long before going back to EQ. I started a new char on Midgardsormr, name is Ravauk Thel. Currently an Arcanist, but haven't chosen a main job yet (want to get to know them a bit more). However, I enjoy both tanking and healing, and I plan on working on all the classes/jobs; so don't mind filling a role as well.

I'll keep an eye out for you all in game. Look forward to meeting you.

Thank you for posting! Yeah, I played EQ1, man, I can't even remember which servers I played on (I had 2 characters: A cleric named Ejotes Frijoles and a monk named Aisierra). I didn't follow through to EQ2 because FFXI came out around the same time and I had more friends playing FFXI.

The thing about EQ1 that really struck me at the time is that my then BF couldn't play with me. I mean, he could, but if his guild found out, they were upset that he wasn't raiding or camping or whatever with them. His solution was to create another character and hide from his "friends". That sort've peer pressure has always left a bad taste in my mouth. And really, we're of an age now where that kind of controlling nature is… well… crap. Doesn't fly. Not going to play those sort've games while playing a game for enjoyment.

I don't know about you, but we'd purposefully chosen Midgardsormr as our server because it was our FFXI server (before it was merged) and because it was a "new" server. We liked the idea of everyone starting on the same foot. Of course, things won't remain even for long, but we're okay with that. We want folks to enjoy their time playing, try lots of jobs, find what suits you! I wish I could use Fishing as a Disciple of War job. I'm murdering all sorts of sea life, so why not?

Anyhow, we'll speak in FFXIV! …If they ever unthrottle the servers to allow more than 10 people on at a time.

I started EQ1 on Firiona Vie… it was the official RP server that allowed only one character on the world. Ironically, FFXI was the instigator for our guild break-up… half the guild left to play it and everyone else moved on to heavy raiding and such.

As for FFXIV, I chose Midgardsormr cause I saw your post. :) I had a 10th level guy on Siren, but that took all of a few hours (well, two days the way the servers are). Really looking forward to getting in game and getting things going. So much about this game I'm liking, but at least I'm getting plenty of work done in the meantime.

I'll ping you in game once the servers are running more smoothly.
