Hey kids. Did you just install windows 10 and it's thwarting your nvidia card driver installation like a Disney villain? Are you waiting for the singing birds and rats to make it a complete scene?

Well, fear not…while this is totally a YMMV (your mileage may vary) solution, it worked for me and my Geforce 970, so Bill Gates willing, it'll work for you too.

(Hey, before we do this, let's turn off User Account Control. You'll thank me later)

1. Right-click on the start-menu and select "Control Panels."

2. Click on User Accounts.

3. Click on Change User Account Control Settings.

4. Drag the little bar all the way to the bottom to "Never Notify."

5. Click OK.

Go ahead and restart your computer. Supposedly you don't need to with this new-fangled-windows thing, but better safe than sorry.

Now then, with that done, let's play…

1. Right-click on the start-menu and select "Control Panels." DO NOT TRY THIS WITH THE SETTINGS APP…mostly because I don't know how to make it work with that yet.

2. Click on the System control panel. It's a little monitor with a checkmark in it.

3. Click on Advanced System Settings.

4. Click on the Hardware Tab.

5. Click on the button marked "Device Installation Settings."

6. Click on the little radio button that says "No, let me choose what to do."

7. Below that, click on the radio button marked "Never install driver software from Windows Update." You can leave the box marked for getting device app and info though.

8. Click on the "Save Changes" button.

9. Close the rest of those windows, you shouldn't need them any more.

Once you follow those steps, run your nvidia driver installer. It *should* finally complete like it's supposed to, and windows won't go and randomly eat your drivers any longer.
